The eVisitor (subclass 651) is the standard visa for Irish citizens visiting Australia for holidays, visiting family, or short business trips. There is no government application fee.
eVisitor vs tourist visa (600)
Most Irish holidaymakers use the eVisitor. Consider the Visitor visa (600) instead if you need a longer stay, have complex circumstances, or the eVisitor is not suitable for your situation.
What you can do
- Visit Australia for tourism
- Visit family and friends
- Attend short business meetings, conferences or negotiations (not work for an Australian employer)
What you cannot do
- Work for an Australian employer
- Stay permanently
- Use the visa if your main purpose is medical treatment (other visas may apply)
Applying from Ireland
- Create an ImmiAccount on the Department of Home Affairs website
- Select eVisitor (subclass 651)
- Complete the online form with passport and travel details
- Submit while you are outside Australia

After your visa is granted
The eVisitor is linked electronically to your passport. You normally will not receive a visa label. Check your ImmiAccount for the grant notification before you fly.
If you get a new passport after the eVisitor is granted, you will need to apply again with the new passport details.
