Find the right Australian visa
Answer six quick questions and we will recommend the most likely visa option for your situation.
What do you want to do in Australia?
What the checker does
It narrows a long list of Australian visas down to the one most likely to fit, based on why you are going, your nationality, your age, whether you have held an Australian visa before, and when you want to travel. Those five things decide the answer in most cases, which is why the questions stop there.
It is a starting point rather than an assessment. It cannot see your immigration history, your health or character situation, your occupation, or whether an employer is willing to sponsor you — all of which can change the answer. Treat the result as the page you should read first, not a decision.
Visas it covers
- Working Holiday visa (417) — work and travel for a year, Irish citizens up to age 35
- Second and third Working Holiday years — after completing specified regional work
- eVisitor (651) — free, for tourism and short business trips
- Visitor visa (600) — longer visits and sponsored family visits
- Skills in Demand visa (482) — employer sponsored, no age limit
- Student visa (500) — full-time study with limited work rights
- Partner visa — partners of Australian citizens and permanent residents
- Permanent residency — points-tested and employer-sponsored routes
If nothing matches your answers
Some combinations genuinely have no standard answer — being over the Working Holiday age limit without an employer sponsor, for example, or wanting to work and travel on a passport that is not Irish or British. The checker will tell you why rather than showing a blank result, and point you at the nearest realistic options.
If you are still unsure after that, or your situation has a complication in it, get in touch and we will tell you plainly what we think applies — including if the answer is that you do not need us. You can also browse all Australian visas or start with which visa Irish citizens need.
